Low-Resource Language AI Research

DAKSHINIWorld's Only Original Odia Conversational Voice AI Agent

Built ground-up for Odia — not translated from Hindi or English. DAKSHINI is Presear's original conversational voice AI agent, engineered from the first principle that India's low-resource languages deserve AI built natively for them, not adapted as an afterthought.

Hear DAKSHINI Speak Odia, Naturally

A real conversation, not a scripted demo — DAKSHINI understanding, reasoning, and responding entirely in Odia.

Odia Was Never Meant to Be an Afterthought

Odia is spoken by over 3.5 crore people — an official language of India and one of only a handful granted Classical Language status. Yet in voice AI, it remains a "low-resource" language: starved of the transcribed speech, parallel text, and annotated conversational data that English and Hindi systems are trained on by default.

Most "regional language" voice assistants aren't built for Odia at all — they silently translate speech to Hindi or English, run the AI there, then translate the response back. Every step loses nuance, mishandles dialects, and breaks on colloquial speech.

DAKSHINI takes the harder path. Speech recognition, language understanding, dialogue reasoning, and voice synthesis are all trained and operated natively in Odia — no translation layer in between.

Native Speech Recognition
Trained directly on Odia speech data — including regional dialects — not transliterated Hindi models.
Zero Translation Loss
No hidden Hindi/English pivot — every step of reasoning happens inside the Odia language space.
Built for Low-Resource Languages
DAKSHINI is the first agent in Presear's research program purpose-built for India's under-served languages.

Original, End-to-End, Odia-First

Every layer of the voice pipeline — listening, understanding, deciding, and speaking — is engineered for Odia from the ground up.

Native Odia Understanding
Speech recognition and language models trained directly on Odia — capturing vocabulary, grammar, and speech patterns no translated system can reproduce.
Natural Conversational Flow
Handles regional dialects, everyday colloquialisms, and natural Odia-English code-mixing the way people actually speak — not textbook phrasing.
End-to-End Voice Pipeline
Speech-to-text, dialogue reasoning, and text-to-speech all run natively in Odia — one continuous pipeline, not stitched-together translation services.
Real-Time Voice Interaction
Low-latency, streaming responses that keep conversations feeling human — no awkward pauses waiting for a round-trip translation.
Cultural & Contextual Nuance
Recognizes regional idioms, honorifics, and local context — responding the way an Odia speaker would expect, not a generic script.
Enterprise & Public-Sector Ready
Deployable across governance, healthcare, agriculture, and customer service — wherever Odia-speaking citizens need to be reached directly.

Reaching Odia Speakers Where It Matters Most

From government helplines to rural clinics, DAKSHINI puts a natural Odia voice in front of services that have long defaulted to Hindi or English.

e-Governance
Citizen Services in Odia
Citizens ask about government schemes, certificates, and grievance status by voice — in their own language — instead of navigating English-only portals or IVR menus.
Healthcare
Rural Healthcare & Telemedicine
Voice-based triage and helpline support for rural clinics, guiding patients through symptoms and appointment booking in the language they're most comfortable in.
Agriculture
Farmer Advisory by Voice
Farmers ask DAKSHINI about crop advisory, mandi prices, weather alerts, and government subsidy schemes — spoken, understood, and answered natively in Odia.
Customer Support
Regional Business Voicebots
Banks, utilities, and local businesses deploy DAKSHINI as an Odia-speaking IVR or voicebot — cutting call-center escalations and serving customers who don't speak Hindi or English fluently.

Presear's Low Resource Language AI Agents Initiative

India has 22 scheduled languages and hundreds of dialects — the overwhelming majority of them ignored by mainstream voice AI, which optimizes for English and, at best, Hindi. Presear's research division exists to close that gap: building foundation voice AI natively for India's low-resource languages instead of retrofitting translation on top of models that were never designed for them.

DAKSHINI is the first agent to come out of this program. It won't be the last.
